From looking at the blog it sounds like there is an abcess for which antibiotics were given. The guinea stopped eating/drinking/pooing and is now off the medication but the lump on her neck is bigger and she can;t pick up food properly. Vet doesn;t want to do a needle aspirate or X ray under GA because of age (4-5yrs old) and is concerned about proximity to major blood vessels.

Sounds like dental/abcess issues or perhaps cervical lynphadenitis - both of which are treatable. A needle aspirate of the lump could be performed without anaesthetic to determine if it is an abcess and antibtioics given such as zithromax. My quess is the vet has limited knowledge/confidence about dealing with this type of issue in guinea pigs and a second opinion is called for.

Can the OP take her guinea pig to Simon Maddock in Northampton? If not, whereabouts does she live so we can recommend a cavy savvy vet
