Hey there. My guinea pig, Ranger, has been doing a weird squeak while he poops/pees but when I check his poop/pee it looks totally normal. He’s been doing this for a while so I guess I thought it was normal. However, today I came home and there was a tiny bit of blood in his cage. But he is still eating perfectly fine right now. What does this mean? What should I do and how can I help him? Thanks!

He needs to see a vet as it sounds like he has a UTI which will need antibiotics. Often with UTI's there can be blood in the urine which isn't visible to the naked eye. It's always worth taking to the vet once you notice signs of pain such as squeaking when he wees or poops. He may also be hunching up which is another sign. Please do visit a vet very soon just incase it's not a UTI as bladder stones can also be common and can cause blockages if left untreated

Okay thank you so much. This helps a ton. I will take him asap.

The good news is that if it is a UTI (which are very common given piggies short legs putting their genitals on the floor) then it should clear up quickly with antibiotics. I've only ever had one piggy with a stubborn UTI which only cleared after a second course of a different antibiotic. The vet should give you some metacam or loxicom for pain relief too and you should then notice a very quick improvement in your piggys behaviour
