Hey,

I have two 3 and a half year old boys and I noticed last night when moving them from their run into their cage that there was really red blood on the blanket that I lay on the floor. I checked them both over for wounds and couldn't find any and they don't ever fight. There was a couple more patches on their woodshavings after returning them to their cage, but nothing since. If it was a UTI would there be blood present all the time? Neither of them seem to be in pain when having a wee.

Sometimes blood can be in the urine but not present to the naked eye. Best idea is sit them both on a white towel and wait for them to pee. That way you can find the culprit, I would definitely recommend a vet visit!

Thanks for that @gizzy I think I'll get some and check Storm.

I hope there's nothing serious wrong with your guinea(s), I've had this over the Summer from one of our older boars, we believe he has IC.

ps they are easy to read,
there are 9 independant tests on one stick, the one for blood is at the bottom of the stick and it is quite acreate,

once you get the hang of them, you can use some of the other tests on the stick to test for other conditions that may be linked to the blood show

Thanks everyone :) I'm 90% sure which one it is, he doesn't seem to be in pain and is quite happy running around, munching on hay, etc. I managed to get a cheap vet appointment (with my favourite vet too) hopefully it's just a UTI! Love my boys and so worried about them the older they get ):

Hi, let us know how you get on at the vets :tu:

The vet checked them over and has prescribed them antibiotics to give them in a couple of days if the bleeding starts again, she said she isn't worried and it's not apparent as to which pig it is! Such a relief, I worry too much! Thanks again everyone :)
