I have a male Guinea pig and after several days on the road and in a travel carrier, I noticed his nipples were swollen and secrete blood when touched. What can I do to help him?

Why was he cooped up in a travel carrier? Where you moving house? I would take him to the vets as that is not normal.

We were moving I can’t get him to the vet until I get paid the end of the month.

Hope the move went well.
A sick pet on top of moving house sounds like a nightmare.
Hope you can find a vet quickly

If you explain the situation to your vet they may be able to do a payment plan for you. Unfortunately sick piggies can’t afford to be left for a long period of time as they tend to go downhill quickly. Good luck I hope you manage to sort him x

I found a vet that takes Guinea pigs but they don’t have an opening til the 6th. The swelling in the one nipple has gone down. He’s eating and drinking etc ok.

Got him to the vet yesterday. Probably a bacterial infection. Vet gave me some antibiotics.
