Blood in the urine and an unusual weight gain. It never rains but it pours!

Tomorrows routine check up for Esme has now turned into a trip for lots of little problems.
Rosie has a small lump in her ear which she has had for maybe about a week, it hasn't increased in size so I'm not too worried.
However today I weighed her and she weighs 923g which is a 140g increase since last week (780g), her hair has been a bit thin on her tummy again- it has been like this for a little while but on her last vet check up no cysts could be palpated so we were told just to keep an eye on it. She is acting a little lazier than usual so not really sure what is going on.

And to top it all off during medicine time we had squeaky pees from Esme, red urine stains on the dog bed and generally squeakiness.

She is lazy anyway, but it seems even more so today. She actually feels heavier round the middle, but done the tap test and no bloat so its a bit of a mystery.

That weight gain needs investigating; it is most likely an accumulation of fluid somewhere in the body.

That is my thoughts too, she is quite rounded round her tummy- not bloated but whatever it is seems to have accumulated there.

Today Rosie has woken up with a squinty watery eye and is looking pretty sad. I hope they can do something for her x

I know how you feel; I have been known to exasperate vets and receptionists with turning up with more piggies than booked in originally on more than one occasion!

Well i won't be turning up with more pigs, just more problems! The other two seem fine , no changes in weight etc or anything else so they shall be staying here. I have on occasion brought all 4 into the vets, which was a little crazy having to keep hold of them

So... it's not amazing news but it could be worse.

We'll start with Esme, we are trying the tablets she has 1/4 of a 20mg tablet to be taken daily. Ir can be split into the usual two doses but as the tabs are so small i will be quartering it, crushing it and making it up with water into two syringes ready for the day, and seeing how she goes. The cystitis we are going to use cystease for now and only use metacam if needed - not every day because of the heart and don't want kidney problems on top of everything else.

She is back again in a week to see how the tablets are going.

As for Rosie, well my usual vet came in and had a look too. She palpated her tummy and made the comment that it was doughy, she come feel the ovary on the right side which was enlarged but not obviously cystic. She showed the other vet how to palpate her ovaries, he made the comment that the one side was like a cows :-O
So the doughyness is thought to be tissue based not fluid based , which sadly means that she may be hiding some sort of growth.

As for her eye she has had a fluoroscene dye which has shown an active ulcer, so she has fucithalmic for that.
She has had a chorulon injection and is due another in a week. Whether it makes a difference we will have to wait and see.

Thanks. Unfortunately it was not the best news although I was kind of prepared for it, just got to make sure she is comfy and see what the next few days/ weeks bring. She is loving being spoon fed pellet mash- It is like she has never been fed before.
