Just had my female Saffy on fleece on my knee for cuddles? She is a right wee bum and lifted her bottom up but she dripped red liquid. I kept her on my knee to check any more wee. She did oblige buf nof as much as usual and it is quite red, no squeaking, eating and drinking. I was thinking vet visit tomorrow. What does anyone think.? Thank you.

I would recommend a vet visit, especially if Saffy has been on the lawn recently; spring is high season for UTIs. Please be aware that at the onset of a UTI not every pee necessarily contains blood (not even every red pee!), but that blood may show up in seemingly clear pees. You are a very observant owner, so you have likely caught it very early on.
Your vet should be able to express the bladder for a urine test during examination.

Thank you. She hasn't been outside yet and i haven't changed anything in her food. She was on a white/pale grey fleece on my knee so the pink/red was very noticeable. I'll ring the vet first thing.

All the best! Please keep us updated, so we can give you more tips when you have a diagnosis.

Sounds like a UTI... good that you are going to check it out. Hopefully some antibiotics will fix her up!

Is there a preferred antibiotic for UTI does anyone know. I would like her to have the best.

Saffy has been to the vet and has been started on baytril, she is booked in for next friday for follow up. She is eating and drinking and is a chunky 1.4 kilos.

Just to say that Saffy is being a real star taking her medicine; i am doing it alone and she is not fighting it. She is also eating and drinking well and as active as usual.
