Blood In Urine?

I have 2 ew rescue sows, had them about 3 weeks. Last night during lap time I noticed one had a little blood when she weed on me and then this morning when I've cleaned out their litter trays, there's blood soaked urine in one. Now she's fine in herself, popcorning, eating etc. & she didn't react like she was in pain when she weed on me. Then I had a thought - could it be like a period? Do piggies come into season like dogs do? They've not been neutered as far as I know & all I now about their past is that they were kept for breeding purposes, they're both 2.
 
sows do not have a menstral cycle like humans,they have a season every 15 to 17 days and can be hormonal in behaviour,eg chasing ,humping more moody,but do not bleed.I would get your young lady checked by a vet.It could be a wee infection,bladder stones,i do not like to speculate and as I'm not a expert ,It is best to pop along to a cavy savvy vet.there is a vet locator at top of page,if you insert your postal code it ill give you your nearest vets,if you lve in the uk !Good luck ,i hope you get your lady sorted.:) i ill tag in a health and illness person @Adelle .
 
I agree that you should take her to a piggy savvy vet, it's more than likely a UTI since she's fine in herself, which are fairly easy to treat with antibiotics.

If you are prescribed antibiotics for a UTI make sure to give a probiotic 1-2 hours after each antibiotic dose to keep the gut flora in check and prevent any upset tummy. Examples include pro-c from pets at home, fibreplex from the vet or avipro plus which you can get online.

Aw this forum is so great! So I used the vet locator and saw my local vet this morning & it is a UTI, she's on antibiotics & painkillers. Thanks so much everyone for the advice.
