So I just went down to the hutch and noticed that one of the girls has done a wee that isn't the normal colour. The newspaper was stained a pale pink and from ringing it out I can see it is actually more of a pale brick orange/red colour. I've brought all three girls in and I'm waiting for them to pee so I know who it is and be see if it is infact blood in their urine before I rush off to the vet. They are all eating well so I'm trying not to panic but I havn't seen this before.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You'll need to find out if the wee is coming out red or is drying orangey/rusty colour.
Sometimes piggie wee will dry to a orangy rusty colour due to the oxidation of something in the urine.

My advice is to get each pigge to have a wee in a clean washing up bowl. This way you can see what colour the wee is when it comes out. To get the piggies to wee, choose one of them in turn, feed them some very wet veg or even better if you are confident syringe them some water slowly. Then pop them in bowl and wait for nature to take its course...

You haven't fed them anything like beetroot recently?

Nope, and nothing new either. They've had grass, spring greens and green pepper in the last 24hrs along with hay and dried food. It was only one pee and fairly recent so what ever is going on it has only just started to show itself.

Ruby's in the bowl. Brilliant idea, thank you.

No worries, we've had a lot of experience in wee collection unfortunately. Hope you can get it sorted, will keep checking back for updates. Hope they are ok.

And Ruby is fine as well! argghh, but thank goodness. Will keep an eye on them for a bit to make sure.

No noises when anyone wee's?

Just keep a very close eye on them. Hope it all goes well.
