Laughing about this now as I feel so stupid but it was a pretty intense incident. One of my guys is just getting over a hay poke in his eye so I had their habitat partitioned. When I came home from work I found they had knocked over the partition And were lazing about. I took this as a sign that they were ready to share the space again.

About an hour later I hear some teeth chattering behind me and turn around to see them fully at it. Overcome with fear that Fizz might hurt his eye again I reached down with my bare hand (yes I'm an idiot) to break them up. I feel a sharp pain and withdrew my hand to find Rizzo firmly attatched to the side of my wrist, trying his best to end me. When he finally let go and I clutched my hand in shock blood shot up several feet in an impressive arc, the little guy had severed my radial artery.

After putting some paper towel on it and soaking that with blood, I got a nice clean cloth and applied some real pressure as I called the hospital. Long story short was the bite was too small to need stitched, I'm up to date on my tetanus and the bleeding eventually did stop so it was off to the drug store to get some dressing more suited to this injury.

It was probably the most blood Ive ever seem leave my body.

The pigs are fine. Separated again and they even got treats as Rizzo had to be transported via towel to a pet carrier and he hated me for it for a while.

 pleased you OK. You won't be doing that again in a hurry! Hope your piggies OK too and that Rizzo likes you again.

Oh good god, that sounds horrendous. Poor you, you must have been in shock. I knew they could bite, but severing an artery is serious stuff. I hope you're OK. X

I have seen some terrible injuries from people separating fighting piggies. It’s hard to believe these little creatures can cause so much damage. Hope you and the piggies are all ok soon x

Funny how small rodents can do so much damage! get well soon!

So glad I waited until after trying to bond my two to read this- I would have been even more nervous than I was (still am - I keep waking my daughter when I go into make sure our 2 are still getting along -lol). Hope you heal quickly and that your two are back to getting along soon.

This happened to my hubby when we were in the process of bonding Prince with Cookie and Bunny. Prince and Bunny was on the sofa with us sitting quietly beside each other. Then Prince got startled by something and Bunny suddenly went on the attack mode..but with my hubby. She bit hubby's finger and when hubby was trying to remove his finger from Bunny's mouth, she just won't let go and was hanging on to it when hubby was putting his finger up. He had a souvenir scar from it and always remind Bunny that she's a "B" sometimes. Hahahaha :gp:
