Few wheeks ago, bloss what I originally thought was a urine infection, had her first visit to vets and was diagnosed as vaginal infection.5 days of baytril, quarantine, and constant cleaning with warm water, smidge of witch hazel and soothed with calomile lotion, she was doing well. Then she was struggling again, vets again, Metacam for 5 days and she was doing brilliantly.

She returned to her friends after some rebonding and my having a few panic attacks, all was well. One wheek later she was squeaking with weeing, hunching up after and visible blood in her urine. Back to vets, prescribed 0.3ml of baytril twice daily. She's been on probiotic also.

Quite frankly there's been little improvement in her condition. She was out today grass bathing with butter whilst vile violet refused to come out to play. Anyway, it will be another trip to the vets the only problem is that we just seem to struggle to get a cavy savvy vet in and around the Lichfield area.

So, anyone know one? Apart from the obvious vet visit, any suggestions? Bloss is my fav, even my hubby loves her to bits. She's 4 years old. I can lose her, I've never lost a piggy before. She's eating fine.

Appreciate advice....thanks in advance.

I would suggest an Xray to check for possible stones this can be done without a GA, however some vets will insist on using gas. Gas is better than a full GA but obviously if someone will do without either that can be better for the pig.

Another AB maybe needed my girls took 3 weeks to clear a UTI - they where prescribed Septrin.

Perhaps put a new thread asking a vet in linchfield.

Good Luck. xx

Thanks flintstones I'll do that. When I asked about septrin, both vets just looked at me like I'd gone out. mallethead. I'll keep looking for a cavy vet. I might make lots of calls tomorrow, nope I will make tonnes of calls tomorrow.

Update

Well, bloss made her debut at the office today whilst waiting her appointment at oak field in atherstone. Whilst they no longer specialise in small animals and have an exotic vet, I found the vets very good. Bloss has finally been given septrin and Metacam to deal with her suspected uti. She squealed the place down during her exam, gave all the dogs something to be frightened off.

Anyway, it's a waiting game to see how she responds now, the vet really doesn't know how she'll do, shes getting weak and more withdrawn, I'm making her comfortable as possible. I need to ring the vets on Monday and they were super efficient by getting the meds in ahead of her appointment which is promising I just hope it was in time now.

She's my absolute darling so fingers crossed.
