Please take him to a vet

Eye injuries should always be seen promptly by a vet because they can deteriorate very quickly. Your vet can assess the extent of the damage with a special dye and close examination.
They will prescribe antibiotic eye drops according to the extent of the damage.

Hi and welcome

Please book an appointment for as soon as you can.
Your guinea pig has a serious ulcerating eye injury and needs to see a vet ASAP, ideally today.

Eye injuries can unfortunately come on and deteriorate very quickly.
If they are seen and treated promptly, you may have a good chance of having a successful and fairly quick recovery, depending on how serious the injury is.

I’m afraid this is a true emergency and your piggy needs to see a vet immediately. It won’t wait. Sorry.

Ouch- looks like a traumatic injury like a hay poke- very painful and eye injuries can get worse in a hurry, definitely this is a case for a vet as soon as you possibly can!

Ooh gosh that looks painful, definitely try & get him to the vet today as an emergency for the ulceration.

Orca one of my girls is prone to eye issues & hay pokes, the redness in the eyeball could be due to a small bleed, from hay poking in his eye, there's a possibility it may need some antibiotic (Baytril usually) as when Orca's went similar to that the puncture had caused a bleed & infection in the eyeball.

Orca had a week of twice daily Baytril & originally 3 or 4 times daily 'Clinigel' eye drops. (just to warn you eye drops are usually expensive, but cheaper than eye surgery & last longer if you keep the tube in the fridge... My vets suggestion)

It may take a week or so to clear, but the sooner he gets some eye drops the better the chance of a full recovery :)

Welcome to the forum & he looks rather handsome even with his injured eye
Healing vibes & speedy recovery xx
