Blue cloudy eye

Hi all,

Our three and a bit year old Peanut had developed a blue/cloudy eye when we got home from work yesterday. He's always had a bit of a bulging/funny eye, but the vets have looked at it countless time and have never been worried.

We got an appointment for tomorrow afternoon for him to see the vets. He ate all his food yesterday, ate hay, played with his brother, and was completely himself. Same this morning, begging for his morning feed at the cage side, eating hay, running around and being grumpy (he loves being grumpy and growling at everyone and everything). His eye also looked a bit better, it looked a little irritated last night until we washed it - this morning it seems more wide open and a little less 'shiny'.

I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance here that he'll be fine till tomorrow, or even till we get in from work this eve! I know it's silly. I've heard it might be a hay poke.

Hi!

Please have her vet checked ASAP for an ulcerating eye injury/hay poke
If you can at all, don't wait until tomorrow evening!

Eye injuries deteriorate very quickly and the damage can be far more extensive than visible to the naked eye. They cannot wait, and any vet will prioritise you in order to preserve the eye and to avoid the risk of an eye removal op.

If at all possible, you want to prevent the infection to penetrate further into the eye, where it is much harder to deal with. The dull colour is an indication that the infection is penetrating deeper.
 
is there any chance your vets could fit you in tonight? I rang with an eye problem and they said they class eyes an emergency as things can go bad very quickly and they got me in straight away- worth a call to save you some more worry. Good luck!
