hi everyone i am new here and I have 2 sets of boars in 5x2 c and c cages one set getting on so well you know in the graysbies are my nicknames for them are fine get along well and the have so far established who is the dominant one. In my other pair of boars I'm having little trouble and have been for 2 days I have collectively had 4 hours sleep in 2 days worrying and wondering what i have done wrong for them to be acting so off to the point they are now fighting no blood is drawn but if it turned out they did id separate straight away due to i know that means there bond is broken i am just so worried as I have never had to deal with this before due to the piggy's I had before had to be lone piggy's hated other piggy's so now I'm facing new challenges and is now freaking out wondering if i have done wrong or its just them going through life changes and hormones the babies I am referring to are 6 months of age if any one has any advice id love to here it. thank you in advance
Natasha

Welcome to the forum

You haven’t done anything wrong.
At six months old, their hormones are at their peak and sadly this is when incompatibilities can come to light and bonds can fail.

If they are having actual fights (rather than dominance behaviours) even if injuries have not yet been caused, then their bond will be failing and separating them would need to be done. Sadly things won’t get better if they don’t want to be together.

If fights are occurring, then I would suggest you separate them for a few days to give them time to calm down.
In a few days time, you can then try a neutral territory reintroduction to allow them to make the decision on whether they want to be together going forward. If they no longer want to be together upon reintroduction, then their response will be clear and sadly the separation will need to be made permanent. In this case, each piggy will need their own cage a minimum of a 3x2 and it would need to be side by side so they can still interact through the bars.

The guides below explain further.
