Hello, okay so I'm a little worried about what just happened with my piggies i was filming bentley pop corning and just being cute, when he stopped a little and started chewing his plastic tunnel, Chester walked out started rumbling, they both swayed hips rumbled etc. nothing out of the ordinary, then Chester from what i saw bit or at least tried to nibble Bentleys ear Bentley stayed still while Chester started walking into his tunnel, then Bentley decided to start chewing again and Chester came out and kinda jumped at him as if he was going to bite him or something, is this normal? there two boars, i bought them on September the 3rd and were anything between 10 and 16 weeks when we got them, the shop isn't sure on there exact age, they do live in a small cage atm, but i am buying them a 2x4 C&C cage with upper level etc.
They get along fine atm, eat together, sleep together, its just occasional fighting and i don't know if it's the age or what i read through the normal dominance and fighting thing and it said biting is fighting but they get on so well so i can't see why they'd suddenly be like this, they were fine after and just got back to doing what piggies do
also i have the film of what happened if anyone would like to see.

any advice would be great :{

I think the film would be very helpful if we could have link maybe?

Was there actual blood drawn?

Trying to import the film now, there was no blood that i could see, but from where on the ear he first bit i doubt there would have been any blood, I'm not sure, i'll let you know when i manage to get the video up, there all quiet and fine now.

Here's the link, the begining is fast forwarded...

Ok. :) If there was no blood drawn, there is no need to seperate but if they are getting agressive it may be best to keep a close eye on them. To they have a teddy in there cage that they can hump if they get fiesty? So they dont take it out on eachother.

They have two teddies, one each ! :)
I'll keep an eye on them but everything seems to be okay now :)

It looks general agression to me. I'm sure they will be much happier when they are in a bigger cage. How soon are you thinking of getting one?

It may not be till after Christmas, but i've put £120 worth of items on eBay, so if i can get the money and do cute puppy eyes at my OH, will probably get it sooner, i've added an extra level for now just to give a little more room for any grumpy boots that want some space etc. :)

In my experience I dont think that is major aggression going on, more of a come on now back off. My two girl piggies I had were similar they nipped each others ears a lot and chased each other. My mum always used to come and tell me "its handbags at dawn up there again", but at no point was there serious agression. Where as my boys yawning big teeth and constant rumble strutting and chattering has always seemed more like proper attack fighting.
But keep an eye out for any new behaviours

it happened that quickly i had to rewind the video :))

I wouldnt look too much into just now. Boys will be boys :)

Definatley keep an eye on them for any changes in behaviour, and even their personality ( signs possibly bullying is happening).

My boys use to nip at each other like that all the time then had to get seperated due to fighting and Dexter got his ear ripped off :( dont know what it is about the ears! lol

I'd call that minor dominance behaviour, they're testing each other to see how much they can get away with thus being boss, or at least for the next hour :))

I had two once that would do it, one would creep up the other and nibble an ear then run off waggling his bum lol

I wouldn't worry, always commit to the situation and have faith they'll work through it and only seperate if blood is drawn.

Did he squeak when the other one bit his ear? I wouldn't worry about it at all to be honest with you. I'm not very experienced but they seemed fine together to me. Pig always has a nibble on Womble's ear when they are out together and I don't think Womble minds as he doesn't move away (and easily could) and your piggy didn't either.
