Hi there,

Just after some advice please of what to do with my guinea!

I have a pair of females (daisy & clover) who are as good as gold and inseperable.

I had a pair of males (Nibbles and Chick) who did get along until we went on holiday and were moved into a large indoor cage at my mums while we were away. Thats when the trouble started, they just didn't get along teeth chattering, rumble strutting and the occasional nip.

When we returned after a week I thought they'd be ok back in their hutch but oh no it only escalated. I tried loads of things bathing them, cleaning everything etc but no. One day whilst out in the run I turned to find them both locked together and literally rolling round the lawn and blood had been drawn on both sides :0

They were separated immediately as it was just too big a risk and obviously making them miserable. Over a period of several weeks I have successfully bonded Nibbles with one of my then foster piggies (yes I am a failed fosterer and have officially adopted him!) and they are getting along famously.

My big dilema is what to do with Chick. He currently lives indoors so he gets more one to one attention but he still looks a bit sad. I have thought about having him neutered and trying to bond him with my girls but again there are no guarantees it won't happen again as he is around 7 months old and also the operation risk puts me off. My other Option is trying to bond him with another male, but i'm just not sure which way to go with this or even if there is somewhere who offers boar dating in my area.

Any help as always greatly appreciated!

Hi!

If it is possible for you to get to North Shields, I can most warmly recommed this rescue here. Layla is very experienced. I know that she does piggy dating. If I were you, I'd try to find him a boar in a rescue he gets on with first before thinking about neutering.

Thanks Wiebke,

I have messaged Layla I didn't realise she did it there!

Just hope we can come up with something I'm not overly keen on the thought of neutering and then it may just upset the balance with my lovely ladies but that would be a perfect solution if we could find hima pal!

Best of luck! I would try boar dating first before I thought about other options. Please keep in mind that your little boy is at the most difficult bonding age, so don't be defeated if things don't work out straight away.
