I came to this forum after losing my 3 piggies which left me with 1 piggy called Dylan who was 5 years old and i was unsure what to do weather to get him a friend or get a bonded pair that would live at the side of him so he could interact with them as i thought he was quiet old and probably would not accept a friend (how wrong was i) after reading info on here and speaking to Claire from the potteries guinea pig rescue in stoke we decided to try him with a baby boar. So last Thursday he went on his big date and we came home with an 8 week old Golden boy. They are the best of friends already and Dylan has put on 50g in 1 week and has a new zest for life running round after Arnie (altho Arnie is very rude to poor Dyl :)) )

it is so nice to hear Dylan wheeking away again i hadnt realised how withdrawn he had become and would just like to say if you are not sure go for it it doesnt matter what age your piggie is if you go to a good rescue that helps you even if Dylan only lives for a few months least he will of been as happy as i could make him but with his new friend by his side I'm sure he will live for many more years.

Wonderful news! x)

I always find the big change that happens to a bereaved, single piggy when they find new friends miraculous. It's like they come to life and have a new sparkle in their coat. It is always worth the effort to piggy date, simply to know that a piggy of mine is as happy as I can make it.

How dare you steel my Toffeewoffee :)

I cant believe it, i was very naieve in thinking he didnt mind about his friends leaving and that he was happy as he was. I now realise he was not ok about it at all and I'm so glad i found this forum and he was only on his own a few days.

I went to the Potteries rescue to boar date my bereaved piggie too, it really was the right thing to do. Made a huge difference. :)

That is fantastic news. I really hope more people do the same as it is so sad for a piggy to live alone. They look so sweet together. x)

Great news, beautiful pigtures x)
