Boar Dating..

Only a few more days till my boy Jasper goes dating! After a home visit and a health check tomorrow he will be all set for finding his mate on Wednesday! I'm so excited. I've been advised to thoroughly deep clean Jaspers cage whilst he is at the adoption centre for a few days so that its a neutral environment for when I ( hopefully) bring them both home. Do you think I should buy new everything else? Ie hideys and tunnels? I already have two bowls and two water bottles but the tunnel and hidey hut he has at the mo is made of wood and hay so very difficult to wash. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Firstly, good luck and I hope it all goes well.

I'd say you wouldn't need to buy everything new, if it's washable, then do so at high temperatures. In terms of the wooden items, you too can keep these as long as you dip them in say F10 (veterinary strength) disinfectant. Ensuring any residual or spores of anything are removed. Dry and air thoroughly as well, outside.

Anything that is made out of hay...perhaps those cardboard tunnel hay things I would say is a no no because you can't clean those.

So wednesday will be tough, leaving your little cutie Jasper at the centre. Fingers crossed.

I would wait with adding the hay hidey until the boys have settled and then rub it over each boy, so it smells of both.
