I have a 5/6 month old boar named Caesar and i've paired him with my 2 month old boar Flynn. The first day after pairing them everything seemed like it would work out however, Caesar was previously housed with a 3 month old sow (whom the breeder told me was a boar). Caesar is consistantly mounting Flynn and last night i seperated them because Caesar would not stop and Flynn had what appared to be claw/bite marks on his rare and he cried out when i touched him there. Now it seems that Caesar keeps running around his cage frantically looking for Aspen (the sow he was paired with). He seems desperate to have her back but she is pregnant and i don't want mixed gender pairing anyway. Neutering is not an option as the exoctic vet here is too inexperienced and i will not risk his life. Someone please tell me what i should do.

I'm also in the precess of having a huge hutch built which will make room for the expecting pups (i have 3 pregnant sows) and my 6 existing piggies. I'm wondering if i should just wait and try again with my boars when the hutch is built because with all the extra space the pairing may be more successful or at least they will have room to get away from eachother!

Hi @CaymanCavy Are the boys separated just now? If they are attacking each other it will be best to wait until they have more space.

It is known for males to fight if there are females in the vicinity, are the girls and boys in the same room?

They are serperated now, i plan to keep them seperate until the new hutch is built. I do have my girls down on the second floor and the boys at the top. please see the picture attached...that is the cage i currently have.
