So firstly, I'd like to just mention that after the passing of Peanut's cagemate, Rodney, on the previous friday; Peanut has been drinking a lot more water compared to what he normally does. He used to drink around 300ml over 2 days, but currently he's drank the 600ml in 2 days. Please note that the vet said everything about him was okay, along with my other pigs, and that he was perfectly healthy and what not.

I'm just wondering, is this possibly a way of him grieving, or is it a behaviour from being alone (I'm currently looking into adopting/rescuing another Boar to be his new cagemate - I just don't want it to feel like I'm replacing Rodney, as it was a shock for him to be PTS) and or stress from being alone.

He's still eating and moving as much as he used to, possibly sleeping a little more but he's still friendly and chatty.

I appreciate any responses

No, suddenly drinking more is not part of grieving.

I never really knew exactly how much he drank, due to him being with another pig, but I think after the recent thorough cleaning the bottle has been leaking with an almost constant drip, as the sheets under the bottle seem to be pretty soaked. I'll keep an eye on Peanut just in case, he's not urinating an excessive amount, and there's no gritty areas, just the normal small calcium deposits which he has always had.
