I’m a fairly New Guinea Pig mom. I’ve had my two boys Oreo and Reese since March now. They get along- only rumble strut at each other sometimes. I keep reading that mounting is normal between boys, but Oreo keeps causing Reese to have boar glue on his butt. I just cut some out yesterday and it is there again today! It has happened before. Is this normal? It is a pain to remove it and Reese doesn’t enjoy it either!

Some are more....happy than others. It's all normal. Perhaps just leave it to grow out then cut it off rather than cutting out regularly.
The name is very appropriate :D I've only ever encountered it once or twice in the almost 3 years I've had my boars.

Welcome to having boars (and to the forum!)!

Yes mounting each other and getting boar glue everywhere is totally normal.
As siikibam says if it is uncomfortable for him to have it cut out then I’d leave it.

Thank you! I was worried I would need to separate them 😂. I’ll leave it for now !

Thank you! I remember the first time I saw it on his back and I was crazy confused. I’m glad to know it’s safe to leave it

Sadly, especially teenage boars can produce a lot of it during a hormone spike.
If you can't cut it off, you have to wait until it falls off. 'Boar glue' is a very apt description of the stuff!

PS: While it is not quite as common, neutered boars can still produce it, too; hence why there is a 6 weeks post neutering op safety wait to make sure that any semen in the tubes has died off or you may end up with a little surprise baby like Tegan in my avatar, who was the legacy of a supposedly safe over 5 weeks post-op rescue boar (not one of mine I hasten to add!).

But to stay with my avatar piggies, Nerys (the big teddy lady in my avatar picture) was having it on her nose more than one - and you can't cut it off from there! Guess where she was sticking her nose... and Hywel was most definitely neutered!

My neutered boar Theo somehow manages to get boar glue on his own back as well as on his lady friends... its quite a skill! :)
I think Theo's rather dominant feminist lady friends won't submit to a bit of romance without immediately turning round and giving him a jolly good dominance mounting and humping right afterwards, just so he knows his place- that's the only theory I could come up with!

And then there are people who find guinea pigs boring...
