Oh crikey, they always find some way to shock you or really mess up your evening don't they?! You wouldn't believe what I have just discovered.

Buddy and Basil have been overly . . . amorous today and I was doing a quick once over check of them before bed and as I lifted Buddy up he gave me the fright of my life. It honestly looks like a large chunk of lip is hanging off but upon closer inspection it is rock solid, white, and wasn't there an hour ago during cuddles. Yes, my dearest little monster has a lump of boar glue just under his bottom lip. The last lot was on his back and had to be cut out of his fur at the vets so I'm not sure what to do this time. Will it come off by itself or do we need the vet again in the morning? Is there any way I can carefully get it off myself?

He is in no immediate danger so I've let him go back in the cage and I'll sort it in the morning, honestly he isn't at all bothered by it. Little sod! What are they like!?

Thanks in advance for any help. Please tell me I'm not the only one with naughty little piggies!

No advice but I recently saw a thread on another forum where a persons pig had been up to no good ;) with a cage mate and they didnt know what it was at first haha... I'm sure someone will be able to help you soon!

I wouldn't have a clue sorry, never had boys before.
I don't even want to know how he's managed to get it there ;)
Boys, eh!

Eww! :)) I imagine it will just drop off or get nibbled off, but I've never had the experience with my boys, so I can't be sure.

Poor Spike's covered in it, Bob got a bit carried away. He's pulled his hair out trying to clean it where it's pulling his hair so I've just soaked that patch in warm water to try and desolve it. You could try a damp cotton pad on Buddy's lip but I'm guessing if he's anything like mine he'll try and eat it!

Just tried the damp cotton wool and yes he tried to eat it. I'm going to give the vet a call in an hour and see what they suggest.

Soaking the area in warm water should help loosen it enough to tease it off. With it being on his lip maybe try a flannel rather then cotton wool x

Nope we've never had that before on other pigs but Frank managed to get get some on himself! i agree with degu rock using warm water should loosen it, perhaps a nice bath.

Unfortunately for Buddy we are taking your advice! Bath time! Hopefully this will work :)

Half an hour, one disgruntled piggy and one bath later . . . its off! Though not how you might think. We softened it and teased it, and wiped at it but no luck. I gave him a chunk of carrot to apologize while I tried to think of what to do next. When I came back, he was cleaning himself up after his snack and the lump of boar glue . . . had vanished. We still don't quite know where it went or how he got it off but its a relief. Dirty boy is now sparkling clean at least!
