My 2 year old boar, Sansa, keeps urinating today, usually he only urinates what I would say is the normal amount for a guinea pig, but today it has been very often.

He hasn't had any food out of his usual lately and all of his other behaviours are perfectly normal. Also he doesn't seem to be interested in having any water, which is normal for him, but given the circumstances I would expect him to want some!

At first I just figured that it was a morning thing (I took him out for his floor time earlier than usual) however he has continued to urinate frequently. Should I be worried about this?

Please have him checked for urinary tract infection (UTI). It often starts with increased, stale smelling peeing. URIs are very typical for this time of the year, when piggies are put outside while the ground is still rather cold and damp and the nights are still close to freezing.

You will need an antibiotic to clear it. Septrin/bactrim is the most effective, but it is likely that you will be prescribed baytril. Metacam (a painkiller and anti-inflammatory) can also help getting on top of the symptoms and the dicomfort as quickly as possible. Please ask your vet for it if necessary.
Please either ask your vet for a probiotic or get one online or in an emergency in a pet shop. Give a pinch 1-2 hours after the antibiotic to help counter the effect of the antibiotic on the gut fauna and flora.
You can support the care by feeding mild diuretic dandelions, grass, cucumber or lettuce to help flush the bladder and offer plenty of water. Please don't go overboard with the greens, or you end up with diarrhea! Extra vitamin C to help boost the immune system can also help.

We haven't had him outside yet as we need to re-guinea-pig-proof the garden, but he has had some hand picked grass and dandelion leaves, he doesn't seem to be in any pain either, could it still be a UTI?
Thank you,
Sid.

The increased urination can be just from more fresh food than usual, but if it continues, I would recommend to have him checked. UTI can also happen to indoors piggies.

It was just that day, he's been fine since! He has had more fresh food from the garden so I think it was that. Thank you.
