i have a silly question and apologise if its been asked before, also if this is in the wrong section, but can anyone tell me when you will start to notice a boars balls? roughly what sort of age. waiting for nelsons so he can lose them and live with phoebe.

Thanks :)

I'd say about a few months old, for my boars. :)) I haven't got them neutered though. I don't know how old boars need to be for that :)

yes i know 4 to 6 months but my boy is 4 months and no sign of them yet :... getting worried now.

I noticed Archie had balls when I got him at 8 weeks old :{. Are you sure Nelson is a boy @):)) Maybe he's just under developed...was he a runt? or premature? Just trying to think of reasons he'd be so small and undeveloped...

most of our young boars you have to squeeze to feel them, our boys of 6 months don't have prominent boy sacs just the older ones. but if you gently squeeze round the area you should be able to feel the little lumps. :)

thank you, yep definatley a boy i checked again last night and out it popped :)

i think mayb he is younger than he is supposed to be. will check for them tonight thanks x

well i had a feel last night and still cant feel them, can feel his willy though. I'm really worried now :(

Pop him to the vet maybe for them to check? If * say it's just to check if he's ready for neuter they probably won't charge you.

If you sit him on your knee, with his back to you they should descend & be more noticeable :)

thanks i tried this and had a feel still couldnt feel anything, but to be honest I'm not sure what I'm supposed to feel or see.

he isn't happy with me now :))

When we were considering getting our boar neutered, one of the vets we phoned offered to let a nurse check him over to see if he was old enough to be neutered. Yours might offer to do the same.

I suggest phoning your vet and asking them how old your boar will need to be before they'll neuter him. Ours was done at 4-months of age. You'll need to keep him apart from any girlies for about a month after the op so you don't get any surprise pregnancies.

i have phoned the vet they dont seem to worried he has to be 5 months before they will do him. so booked in for the 18th :...
