I have been researching a lot on what is best to have a boar duo or trio. I got my first guinea pig two weeks ago and he's young probably about 4-6 months. The next day, I brought a second boar home and let them bond on the floor. My first guinea pig, Bean, was popcorning and very excited to meet Chewy. The two have been living in a cage for about two weeks and get along pretty nicely. Don't worry, I expanded the cage size so they aren't living in a glorified litter box like at pet stores.
My only concern is Chewy is skinny and doesn't eat as much as Bean. I still see Chewy eat and he's a bit slower to be introduced to veggies then Bean has been. Chewy might be 4-5 months old. I am considering getting a third to potentially make the pigs happier? I am wondering if more is better since they live in large groups in the wild. Bean is the dominant one while Chewy is the submissive, if I add another submissive pig maybe it will divide up the bullying that Bean has been doing. What do you think of me adding another boar to this duo? I understand the dynamic will change, my ultimate goal is for happier, social pigs.
