Today my senior is going to have eye removal surgery. The vet is not allowing the pair to be there together. I will have one lone pig at the vet, and the other at home. Is there any way I can comfort the one at home? I'm concerned he is going to get stressed out. When my surgery pig returns, they will be in the same cage but the cage will be seperated by c&c grids while surgery pig recovers. I'm about to take my pig to the vet, so they should be alone probably 12 hours or so.

I'm sorry this all sounds rather stressful for both you and the piggies, but hopefully will be short term and soon they can be reunited. My group of 6 gets very anxioys if anyone goes to the vets, even if a pair go together for company the rest of the family are left at home windering where their friends are! Some kind words and a bit of extra attention and a few treats should comfort your piggy at home until his companion returns. Once he sees and smells the other piggy back home but reeking of "vet" he will be a bit alarmed but should understand, piggies can be very kind to companions who are unwell x

Best wishes for the surgery - I hope all goes well.
Some treats will hopefully keep him occupied while he is waiting for his friend's return.
Keep us posted.

Dont forget that when you do try to reintroduce them, it must be done properly on neutral territory (dont just remove the grids and let them wander into each others cages as that could be seen as a territory invasion).

All the best with the op. Hopefully his friend will be fine with you and some treats to keep him distracted.
