Boar with a couple of sores?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum but looking for advice for one of my boars. He isn't even a year old and has developed a couple of patches that look possibly like sores, 1 new and 1 old (looks like it's scabbed over) I have a photo of the recent one (can't attach it for some reason) but he won't let me take a photo of the old one as it's close to his tummy (he doesn't like his belly being touched). Any advice is appreciated.

Being able to add a picture takes a while after your account is created (this is to avoid spam).
You should be able to do it now though.

Please do have them checked by a vet - a hands on check is needed to determine what it is and what treatment could be needed.

Once your registration is fully processed and you have got your designation as New Born Pup on the left side by your username you can add photos. We recommend to use the Attach Files button by your new post when you write it as it works for all formats. Our forum is not part of social media so we cannot guarantee that all formats are supported.

Unfortunately, we cannot give you any ideas just from your description but we recommend to have your boy vet checked. If possible, please also make sure that we can also see where on the body the sores are as that can also be a pointer.

Hi

This looks like a potential bite wound to me? Please have it seen by a vet in case it is a full-on deep bite, since it could get infected and develop into an abscess. He may need an antibiotic.

I agree - it looks like a bite wound to me also. Please do see a vet.

You may need to watch their bond to work out whether they are going to be able to remain together going forward

I'll try to get him checked at a vet tomorrow, to be honest I have heard them have the occasional fight but didn't know it was getting this bad until I saw the wound. The vet he's registered with has a vet who specialises in small animals

I’m sorry to hear that.

If you have witnessed/heard fights and now you are finding injuries; they likely need to be separated and possibly immediately.

If you do need to separate, then they need to still be side by side so they can still interact with bars between them.
Each piggy needs a cage a minimum size of 120x60cm or a 2x3 c&c cage each.

Hi and welcome hope your boy soon recovers. Have you read advice regarding cage size and having two of everything for them to minimise the risk of fallouts especially during their hormonal years
