treacle and Ruby have gone into piggie boarding whilst we go on holiday. They are staying with Sarah at Hazelcroft Rescue so they can meet two lovely piggie girls who we hope they will get on with. Sarah's going to manage the introductions whilst we are away and If all goes well (fingers crossed!) we will return home with four piggies, not two! Meet the two lovely sheltie girls, currently named Bella and Eva, who my two will be getting to know......

Aww they're gorgeous, will you be keeping their names or changing them? Fingers crossed the introductions go well x

They are beautiful stunning piggies. Hope the bonding goes well! ^^
Have a good holiday too :)

We are letting the kids help us decide about names and so far it looks like Bella might stay Bella. The names under review (assuming intros go well of course) are two from the following:

Luna
daisy
poppy
Lilly
Bella
pipa
Beth
Abby
Suki
Bonnie

Let's hope we all have a good holiday!

Oh they are stunning little girls! Fingers crossed all goes well and you end up with a mini-herd :D :D

Best of luck that they will gel! It is usually easier to go bond two bonded pairs than go to a trio as four guinea pigs constitute a minigroup and because of the existing bonds, you can usually neatly avoid an outsider problem.

The new two have been living in a group till recently, but you just can't tell can you ?

If I have learned one thing in about 50 bondings, is that you can never quite tell! It all depends also on the mix of personalities and how dominant the two top ladies and the husboar are. Generally, a group backgound helps a lot, as does an age difference.

Sarah will not propose to bond in tricky ladies; she should have a good idea who is more likely to work out in a group setting and who not. Having several days, it is much more easy to work past any issues and the very worst of the dominance. ;)

the girls are certainly stunning; I hope that it all works out!

PS: My recently Briallen was also called Bella with a little sidekick called Ellie ( now Heini, i.e. "lively").

Stunning piggies, fingers crossed the bonding goes well for you - exciting times, have a wonderful holiday.

Gosh they are pretty. How is it going?

No idea yet. Sarah said she would email me when she had news. They've been with since Sunday night so no hurry. She was going to do some ramp "training" too with them, so they are prepared for life in my setup! If they don't get on then there's other female pairs she can try them with.

The latest news on the bonding:

"I tried the 4 girls together for the first time yesterday. Unfortunately it didn't go too well as after a few minutes of harmonious veg munching Ruby decided to attack Eva! This upset everyone else and then they all got very jittery with each other so I had to put the divider back after a fairly short time.

We have had another session this evening which has gone better but it it still too early to say whether it is going to work with this foursome! I'll have another session tomorrow and see how that goes."

Oh dear alpha pig Ruby was always going to be the one to win over. Fingers even more crossed for tomorrow!

Good news! Had a message that things have progressed very well now with Ruby and Treacle with Bella and Eva...

"I've had to take things slowly as Ruby has been in season the last couple of days so has been a bit more challenging but not aggressive. Eva has also shown herself to be quite assertive and Ruby has accepted this on a few occasions which is interesting. They now all seem pretty good together."

They've now all been together in same cage for a couple of days and are settled with each other. Hooray! That means there will be four piggies coming home with us! Just hope things can settle again quickly when we get them into my cage and run. Will post some photos when they are back at ours.
