I was cleaning cage today (and my two boars stay ad one end and then a move them to the other half of cage as i continue with cleaning) and I have probably uncovered some pee puddle or something, even I have smelled it, and the dominant one started to be upset to the point he bit the other one. Blood has been drawn, but just very little (it wasnt even bleeding, he just had bite marks on mouth). I separated them, then tried to get them back together but it didn't go well.

The thing is, we are getting new cage (2×5 c&c cage with loft) but it will (hopefully) arrive next week, as we live where they are not sold, and had to ordered them from another country.

Should I try to reintroduce them before the new cage (they will have to 'fight' for new territory) or should i do it after one or two days, hope they will not fall out before new cage arrives.

I've read the guides, i just want your opinion on when to re-introduce them or if it is even worth trying...

Also, both seem unhappy (dominant one is bitting cage which he had never done before and the other one lays down while normally he s running around). One is 5 monts, other 4..

They'll be okay for a week separated. I'd wait for the new cage as you could get them bonded again and then problems happen when they move cages.

Try to keep them more entertained so they're not bored. Lots of hay, scatter vegs, you could give them cardboard toilet rolls or paper bags to rustle and eat. And lots of individual floor time. They'll be okay :D

It is always worth trying to re-introduce - you can only win as it cannot get any worse than a separation. I agree with Jaycey. Keep them in contact through a divider to keep the bond alive but wait until you get your new cage so you do not have the next big relationship wobble when you move them from their smaller cage to the larger one.

They are currently at a very difficult age where every little extra stress can lead to a boil-over.
