Ideally, what health checks should I be performing on my boars to make sure everything's OK with them?

They're around 5.5 months old - I think it's now they're due for a first nail clipping (I've been checking where the pink bit ends and the nail hasn't been that much longer). I'm afraid of doing it unnecessarily and clipping too short, but then again I want to make sure I clip their nails properly. Every when should I be doing it? I'm going to try and do it myself, even though they don't like their feet being touched.

Also, since I've joined the site, I've been checking their bums every so often. Before I joined, when one of them was around 3 months old, I noticed a large piece of hay stuck in his bum so I pulled it out - which I'm now glad I did! This was a really long piece so was very noticeable. I've been holding them up so I can see their bums and there's been nothing that I can see since. I don't want to be invasive obviously, but should I be looking a bit closer?

Is there anything else I should be doing to make sure they're happy and healthy? They haven't had a bath yet either, as knowing my piggies, they probably wouldn't like it!

It sounds as though you are doing fine already.
Just check eyes, ears, toe nails and the rear end. They should not need bathing at that age unless they have a skin complaint.
