Hi all, I currently have two 6 month old gorgeous boars and i am keen to expand our piggy family. At the moment the boys have a lot of time out of their cage to run around in the hall and in warmer weather in a run in the garden. If I get another pair of boars (hopefully from a rescue centre) they would obviously live in a seperate cage from the two I already have but would they be able to run around on the floor all together at playtime or in the run in summer or would they most likely fight? If anyone has any advice on this I would be most grateful as I want to make sure any piggies I have will have enough time out of their cage. Thanks for reading

Unfortunatly it is very likely they would indeed fight. Even if they didnt actually fight, they would spend all their time deciding who was boss. This would be quite stressfull for them and not be much fun.

I think its a lovely idea to adopt another pair of boars, but they would really need to be kept seperate. :)

Hope that helps.

The risk you run with this, is the personality of one or more upsetting another and breaking the bond between one of your pairs :{

I personally wouldn't risk it, it has been known to happen and then you'd end up with a bunch of lone boars!

I have four boars and what i do is divide my living room in half but with a double divide, so one border of grids, then a couple of inces gap then another row of grids, so they can see and sniff but no chance of touching. I have one boar, Tyler, who is 8 months and he goes nuts at the best of times so as eager and as friendly as he looks, i won't run the risk of his hormones taking over and causing a scuffle :))

Hope that helps :)

thanks for the replies guess i'll have to get a floor time rota going when I expand :-)

Sorry, I know boars can be a pain, but its not worth the risk in my opinion. :)
