Senior Guinea Pig
Does anyone keep a lone boar, if so are they quite happy. Is he beside sows or boars.

I have done, and it completely depends on the pig. My avatar boar was alone for quite a while. He was fine but when he did briefly have a cagemate he was a lot more active. He was alone again after that, only as I couldn't find an appropriate friend.
Podrick on the other hand would never survive being a lone boar.
I would always recommend trying to find a match.

Thanks I'll try & match him, he's such a stroppy piggy anything that is in his cage & moves must be chased & have to have they butt bit. A rescue won't bond him because I didn't get him from there.

Adult Guinea Pig
I have three male guinea pigs.
Amos lives by himself. I adopted him as a companion for Sergie. However they initially got on but after a few days an incident occurred during the night where Amos hurt his paw and I had to separate them. Sergie then died shortly after from an burst liver tumour. I took Amos back to BARC from where he came but he was too bossy to bond. He lived by himself next to two boars who eventually passed away. I wasn't going to get another guinea pig as I thought Amos would continue to be happy living by himself. But I was wrong he became very subdued and his fur fluffed out. I read the signs and I was lucky enough to be able to get a pair of boars Marlow and Granville from @Stewybus to live near Amos.
Amos picked up straight away and returned to his healthy bossy self again. He obviously needed some interaction of guinea pigs nearby. He's always out watching what the pair are doing.
It has worked out well for all concerned but I would be wary of having a sow in the same arrangement.

i have a boar interacting through the bars,as he picks a fight with every boar ive tried to match him with,he lives next to two other piggies a mixed gender couple,it works well.He had grown up with sows around him,so it does not seem to bother him sows are in the same room.i would neuter him,but at five years old i do not want to put him through the op.
