Does anyone on here think boars are more laid back them sows!?
Like with Alfie I will have him on my knee on his favourite cushion and he will just flop out on me or if I have my hand on the cushion he will use my hand as a pillow!

:)):)):))

Aww how cute, ive only ever had boys but there all like that, like to lie down and chill, very cute pic x)

My sows are a lot more vocal but other than that they are similar to my male piggies, although each individual has a different personality. Some a lot more laid back than others.

I have had 5 girls over the years and 2 boys. The boys were far more tame than the girls and infact my beloved Montgomery used to jump out of his cage into my arms and onto my lap during free range time. He loved being petted and would sit for ages nested into my hand with me stroking his ear. I think it depends on the piggie but I'm my experience my boys are far more outgoing and friendlier than the girls. Having said that I love both qualities and wouldnt be without either sex....

One of my boars is tuned to the ceiling he's not very Chillaxed where as Milo he's a new breed of Guinea Pig! Patrick and Milo are both pretty intelligent. My Esme will just sit and have cuddles - Pebbles makes her feelings known and Wilma squeals so yes I would say boys seem to be braver and friendlier in my household anyway!

Your little boy is a very chillaxed - Is he an Aby? My girls are Aby-X and certainly have that fiery personality!

x

Awww, that is so cute! x)

My two younger boars are a bit nervy and won't do that but Bob, my older boar, just plops down wherever :)) All 5 of my sows do that too though

Out of the pig's I've had the boys were very different from the girls, the girls were very robust and took no nonsense and didn't think very much to having a cuddle. Where as I found I had to pander to the boys more and they would settle down happily on your lap.

It's dead weird seeing your Alfie he has the same face that my Jacob pig did

I can't tell the difference to be honest lol

I've had both gender fall asleep on me and accept cuddles etc, but my girls are more active, they pop-corn the most, and fidget more!

Aww... your piggy is adorable! I have only owned my 2 boys for about a month but they certainly are not that keen on cuddles - even less so since making them the bigger pen :( i get a quick cuddle every day if i am lucky but they are not interested in me much unless i am bringing them dinner....... LOL

Give them a bit more time, they'll get better at being sociable with you. Just keep talking to them and giving them strokes and tickles when they're in their pen. :)

thank you, i am sure it is still early days for them and with their new pen it is all new again - they spend more time dashing about when i go in there than sitting still LOL! The last week or so feels like we have taken a step back so i just feel a bit disheartened at present! :)

Yeah, he is a Aby (I think anyway he's got rosettes)

The only time my sows are vocal is when they are squeaking for food or we go outside to see them! But with Alfie we can talk to him and he will talk back! (:

Alfie hasn't got the hang of coming out of his door yet, but I'm sure he will learn soon!
I do have a sow that is laid back not like Alfie tho, she will fall asleep on you!

It will take time for them to get used to you but I'm sure as soon as they do, you will be getting cuddles all the time! (:
