Hi All,
Every Week While Cleaning Out My Piggies Cages I Find That My Girls Cage Is Pretty Clean & Still Smells Fresh. But My Boys I Find That Their Cage STINKS! & Its A Big Mess lol. Is It Just That All Boars Have A Much Stronger Smell Or Do I Have Stinkin Lil Boys lol:))
 
It varies on the pigs and what they live on. I have two boys and they only get stinky when they've had alot of hay put in their cage to keep them warm and they've pee'd on it!

I did use to have a really messy girl she was long haired and she would make such a mess and then lie in it and protest at being cleaned :))
 
My two girlies pen never gets stinky - my lone boar never got stinky - now my lone boar has 2 girlies in with him he does disgusting wafty things at his ladies that smell soooo bad you can almost taste the big bits:)>>>

Shaz I Tried My Boars On Fleece But They Stunk It Up Too Much Now They Are On Dust Free Shavings. But I Do Put Alot Of Hay In For Them To Eat & Play In, So Maybe Its The Pee On The Hay Stinkin The Place Up:{
 
i personally feel the opposite as i've only ever had 5 boys I'm pretty used to there smell and things all though two seem more yucky than others ... but i've had girls boarding with me and it's been 3 days since there cage was cleaned and i think they stink !
 
YES! My boys stink! I'll be sitting 4 metres away from their cage on the sofa and I can catch a whiff of them, despite cleaning out their cages only 10 minutes ago!

I find that two of my boars (kept on fleece) smell the worse when i've just cleaned them and they do there first pee, then it goes and they don't smell as bad not even after 3/4 days they still don't really smell
 
The stink depends on how testosterone laden your boys' pee is. I find that after an introduction or one of those mad multiple sows in season days that my bedding really stinks, while it is not even half as bad at other times! (And yes, neutered boars can still produce plenty of "eau de male"!)

Hopefully, as your boys get older and calm down to a certain extent, the testosterone stink should go down as well.

I do find that on finding a clean cage, the little critters 'mark their territory' straight away - each to their own little 'poo corner'!

ah my boys stink! doesnt help that they are going through their 'teenage' years so constant chasing, mounting, spraying! which stinks! as soon as they start spraying each other and marking thing, its gross!
sometimes i wish they were girls :P haha
