Well I've moved Fudge into the dining room away from the girls and is it my imagination or has his 'smell' got a lot better?
Do boars smell more round girls?
The only thing is he seems a bit depressed now although he's near Arthur.... I was planning on moving them both out to the shed when the cold weather passes but now I'm not so sure, I feel really guilty as he loves my company but.... the smell just got too much to bear.
Trying desperately to think of another place in the house for him
aww poor fudge yes the smell was worse becasue of its attraction to girls why one earth boars think that awlful smell attracts females is another matter, hes missing his mate so obviuosly he needs more company if you cannot find anywhere else for him then you will have to give him more company and attention its not ideal but its better then nothing good luck
The plan was to put the boars in the shed and maybe rehome a couple more, as there are so many in rescue.... but he is a 'people' pig and likes to chat to me so I honestly don't know what to do now. I've shown Arthur to him and both seemed very interested in each other but I'm terrified to try an intro in case they fight. But if he stinks near girls he can't be kept inside near to them - as much as I love him I really don't love his smell ;D I've looked into neutering but the cost at the vets near us is too dear.
I could rescue some girls and put them in the shed so he's near to them but not with him or get a baby boar to try with him and one with Arthur maybe but I don't know, help
I'm with you Michelle. How on earth could that awful smell attract a girl? We have a male here that was exposed to a female in heat so every guinea pig that is put in with him (including boys) is considered a sex toy. It's really gross . The baby boars idea sounds good to me, but not all adult male guinea pigs fight, so don't write it off until you've tried it. Good luck!
