Hi this is my first post as a new guinea pig mummy. I'm a bit concerned about 1 of our little ones, a week ago she had fresh blood on her nose which we thought looked like she had scratched herself. The next day it looked like it had started to heal over. However 2 days later her fur started to come off and the pictures shows how it looks today. Is this a reaction from the scratch? Or could it be mites? Any advise would be very much appreciated. Thank you

Please get a vet check for a proper diagnosis. It may be fungal - but a vet will confirm whether it's mites or fungal .

To me this looks like it could be ringworm, but then I'm paranoid about ringworm. Def a vet check I think!

Please see a vet for ringworm; this is a highly contagious fungal skin infection, which also transmits to humans and other species pets.
Sadly, many pet shop piggies come with it. You can reclaim the vet cost from your pet shop as part of your customer rights because exposure and infection has happened at the shop and you have been sold faulty ware. The period between infection and outbreak is 10-14 days.
PLEASE do not home treat on spec; shop products are not effective and will only prolong the suffering and in the end cost you more than seeing a vet promptly within the time you can reclaim any health cost.

In a dozen years we have had time to find pretty much all the many ways the infection can be transmitted and how to counter all possible angles. It is not fun, but discipline and doing it right will get you there.

Hi our girls are 6 months old now and we have had them since February so I don't believe they got anything from the pet store, they were also treated and vet checked as soon as we got them. I have just booked an appointment at the vets for tomorrow though. Thank you
