Callie

I have 2 sets of bonded males and was thinking of trying to bond both pairs together. I just wondered if anyone had any experince of this of how it went. I know it depends on each piggy and their personality if they will ge ton but just wanted some thoughts and any advice on bonding two pairs together. I'm only at the thinking stage so thoughts would be great.

Thanks Karen

Hope everyone had a great christmas! x

It is not advised to have any more than 2 males together as the likelihood of them fighting is drastically increased.

Some people do manage to keep more boars together but this is the exception not the rule and it is not something that is recommended for inexperienced owners.

i have 3 lots of 3 or more males together, one dad and his 3 sons , two new babies with Cream who lost his bro, then another lot of two adopted boys together with two of my own in a hutch, they argue sometimes but it doesnt get nasty or anything, they would get time out in a corner if they did ;)

I guess its just luck if they get on ok

Personally I wouldn't even contemplate trying to bond 2 established adult pairs of males together. I think it would be a recipe for disaster! I really wouldn't advise you try it Callie. If they are happy in their existing pairs, why spoil a good thing :)

Interesting to hear about sars experiences though.
I like starshine don't advocate keeping more than 2 males together and never re-home more than this to live in the same pen.

That said, I'm honest enough to say that I have no personal experience of multiple males (more than 2) living together and I do tend to stick to what really amounts to "hearsay" when it comes to how many boars can live in one pen!
As always we have to acknowledge that it is all down to their personality and the available space.

That said as a rescuer, I have to err on the side of caution sometimes, so wouldn't place more than 2 baby boars in the same home. Or a single baby boar to go in with two other males. No offence intended to those that keep their guinea pigs this way though ;)
You know your guineas, I don't.

I would love to have the space to try a trio of boars together, but would only personally do so if they were all from the same litter.
Unlikely in the near future though :)

If i can get them to stay still long enough ill get some piccies of my boy crews today together in their groups

*gets the sellotape out*
