I now have 2 pairs, my very dominant sow Shadow bonded nicely a couple days ago to little Bertie boy, though he's a handful for one sow.

Living alongside are 2 Peruvians, the dominant one is 5 years old, extremely underweight congenitally (stable at 670g), the rescue said she may not last much longer, but she's sprightly at the moment. She's always mounting her friend, who squeals in submission, then they sleep together, very tight bond.

Should I wait until tiny floof passes and then bond the remaining three? I don't want tiny floof to be stressed by Shadow being boss, which she will be, given tiny floof puts so much effort into being boss in her pair?

It'd be handy for me to bond them all, but I don't want her to be unhappy losing her status and tight friendship, and die miserable.

Hi!

Only you can make the decision but personally, I wouldn't put a frail piggy through a stressful merger that would mean - provided it is coming off - a massive loss of status for her. I would rather keep them alongside for the time being.

Thank you, I'll follow your advice. Great to have that sorted.

I agree that trying to bond a frail piggy isn't the best of ideas. Though it can be easier to bring two sows to a pair than just one. But since Shadow seems to be quite a handfull you probably wouldn't do Floof a favour.

Lol she is a handful.
Glad you agree. Submissive floof seems very timid and agreeable so hopefully she'd merge OK with Shadow and Bertie in time.

I would leave Shadow and Bertie to it for now, I am the same, I would love to bond all four of mine but just don’t have the nerve to see it happen 😆
