I'm considering bonding my two boars I have left after both their cage mates died within a month or so of each other. I'm scared it won't work and one will get hurt and I need a bit of advise on how to do it. I bonded a younger and older boar before but unsure if it's the same for two near 3yrs old?

Big 'neutral' space, veg as distraction...? Clean cage with double of everything for them to go into... whats considered a sucessful bonding and whats bad news? The chattering or fighting?

I think you would do it like you would any other bonding which it sounds like you already know how to do.

Have the cages next to each other first so they can see, smell and talk to each other.

When you do the bonding, have a towel handy just in case they fight. A bonding bath may help so that both pigs smell the same and have some security from each other.

I say give it a go. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work but at least you would have tried.

Good luck xx

I agree try having them next to each other and see how they react to one another and go from there. If you have bonded before you will know what to look out for and you have nothing to lose at all with trying :)

Hey

They've been next to eacch other since I've had them... even when they had cage mates. They show no interest in each other altho will sniff if I introduce them nose to nose (where I'm holding one)... no chatting

Sounds promising as if they aren't going mad at each other then they tolerate one another. Try introducing them in a neutral area and see how they get on, you have nothing to lose :)
