Hi all,
As some of you will know, we lost our 4 year old sow Clarice yesterday after a battle with lymphoma.
She leaves behind her friend Cora - who is 2.5 years old. They had been bonded by our local rescue when Cora was a baby, and we adopted them together just under a year ago.
We also have Peter, who is a single boar. We adopted him a few weeks after we adopted the girls as we had the space and he was living alone at the rescue anyway. We had him neutered 5 weeks ago, a month after we received Clarice’s diagnosis. Peter and Cora’s C&C houses are attached but there is a divider between them. They sit by the divider and share hay through the bars lol.
We of course aren’t ready to bond them just yet, as 1) Cora only lost her near life long friend yesterday, and 2) Peter was neutered just under 5 weeks ago - I’d like to give it at least 6 weeks as I’ve heard stories of post-neuter babies and we are totally anti-breeding.
I just wanted to ask if there are any specific considerations I should have or any specific tips for opposite sex bonding? Peter is a very silly skippy boy but Cora is very happy, bouncy and fun too. I hope it’ll work out. I’ll read the bonding advice thread soon too - but any tips / experiences you guys have had would be massively appreciated.
