Evening all hope you are all well. Had a good few changes going on here but need a little bit of advice. I have just rescued a young female (about 2/3 months) she was actually a foster. My lone female was very quiet so I thought I would give it a go and it has worked out great. Up until now my lone fe,ale was side by side with one of my males and my intention was to get him fixed and bond them, something I would still like to do and I think they would be fine as he a big softie. My problem is lots of people keep telling me it not worth it, the operation is too risky and now I am not sure what to do?

I also have four lone adult males, two were together but they fought and the other two came to me alone, i was hoping I may be able to bond them into pairs but not sure if this is a good idea. I don't really want to get more piggies but it would certainly be easier for me if they were in together as I could free up some space, plus they would hopefully be happy too. They are between 14 and 16 months, 2 are fiesty and the other two are a little more quiet (just a little).

Thanks for any advice xx

The best you could hope for is 2 pairs of bonded males plus a pair of bonded females. You'd almost certainly have to keep the males in a different room as they would be more likely to fight if there were females close by.

I'm not certain how dangerous it is to get a male neutered but I think it would be a lot better than getting a female neutered. A lot of rescues get all their males neutered before putting them out for adoption so I don't think it must be too bad.

When you do try to do the bonding, use neutral territory & I was told to rub a little lavender oil on their back which is supposed to have a calming effect. Good Luck with everything
