We welcomed the newest addition to the family today, meet rolo!
I introduced him to my 2 year old boar this afternoon, on neutral territory, then hours later moved them into a whole new enclosure, 2 hides, lots of hay, 2 food bowls, 2 water bottles.. apart from lots of chasing it has seemed to go okay so far.. despite having 2 separate bowls of veg they have shared one bowl together and slept in the same hide.
Do i leave them together overnight and permanently now to see how their relationship forms? Or shall i separate just for overnight in case something happens, is it too soon to keep them together?
Help is needed! :)

Definitely leave them together. You can’t separate boars after bonding as it will stop everything.
If you were to separate them now then they would not be able to get through the full hierarchy process and would have to start right from the beginning again. It causes a lot of stress to them to have a bonding aborted and can actually hamper their ability to bond.

The full bonding process takes two full weeks.

We don’t recommend the use of food bowls. We recommend veg and pellets are scattered into loose piles of hay. This is not only to prevent hogging but mainly because foraging encourages natural behaviours and is an excellent form of mental stimulation (eating from a bowl being a bit of a mindless activity which doesn’t enrich them).

Oh thankyou so much for this! I will leave the food bowls from now on! ☺️
