not what you think lol, i let the rabbits and pig out in the run together, there is a divide

they seem very interested in the rabbits, and the other way round i was going to try and see if they could be friends, well not with troy he tried to break down the divide to try and umm do the pigs (troy was bought from a breeder who bred for shows lol)

how do i get around this or should i just keep the divide up for now?

A rabbit can kill a guinea through kicking out, it only takes once. I would keep the divide up. :)

thank you :D i was leaning towards that, i new they could kick a piggie and hert them in a hutch, if it applys to out side as well i will let them say hello through the devide, its only chicken wire

I was thinking similar with Tika who is a Nethie, Twinkle my crazy boar loves her but even though she is little she can't half kick. Now she has a hubby Harvey so she's gone off Twinkle...lol

Yeah the rabbit could try and hump the guineas and accidently squash them, also the kicking thing could kill them...all manner of things. Keep the divide up :)

Glad you're asking for advice first that's a true guinea pig slave - I would keep them separate and just let them say hello through the wire - you'd never forgive yourself if the bunnies kicked and hurt the piggies.

yes i agree with the other post, it would definately not be wise to put a guinea pig and rabbit together, even if its in a run.

thank you :D i am a piggie slave :D we sort of made progress to day the adult male shiffed my finger, and i was able to stroke them ,i think they didnt move becuase they were scared but it worked lol, troy was put bakc in his cage i think its mating season bless him

I would def keep them seperate if they have not been brought up together... :)

I had a rabbit and guinea pig live together... However they had been together since 8weeks old and were firm friends all their life... I wouldnt do it again knowing what i know now though,,,

It is extremely distressing to watch a guinea pig bleed to death from a ruptured spleen after having been kicked by a rabbit. NEVER allow pigs and rabbits together. Many pet shops keep them together, when told it is not recommended the usual answer is "We've never had any trouble". Also a surprisingly high number of assistants say they have kept pigs and rabbits together at home for years and got away with it...I sometimes wonder if it is something they have learnt to say...
I have lost count of the number of shops I have been asked to leave after voicing my concerns to other customers. As for shops keeping pigs on sawdust, woodshavings and straw I always ask what bedding materials guinea pigs in the wild live on!
