Hi, i have a trio of male guinea pigs a dad and two sons, i also have two 2 week old males that I'm hoping to bind into the group.

i was wondering what the best way to do it is?

Thanks

If you have a working trio of boars (which is very unusual) I definitely wouldn't risk rocking the boat by trying to introduce another two, you could break the trio and worst care scenario end up with five single boars.

There all related though, and i want the babies to be able to have a adult guinea pig as a role model, but i not want to break the trio. any ideas of how i can do this without getting another pig

I also wouldn't advise this. Even if they're all related. You might end up with 5 separate guinea pigs.

There might not be problems initially but as al four babies get older the hormones will go crazy and there will be fights/disagreements

I agree - the baby boys have each other.

A stable boar trio is not at all common, but unfortunately, 5 boars falls in the category of small groups in which boars tend to fail. Boars tend to work best as pairs or then in larger bachelor herds of 10 boars+ provided they have got LOTS of space.

The introduction of new piggies and then your babies hitting the big hormones is very likely to derail your whole group. Is it worth taking the risk that you are most likely going to end up with two pairs and a single boar, one pair and three singles, or 5 single boars at the worst?

thank you for the advice.

i will be homing the baby boars separately from the trio.

can someone just remind me of the recomeber cage size for 2 boars. i will be making one from wood. so feet or inches is my preferable measurement. Thanks

You need at least 140cm for 2 boys but go for as big as you can x

is 3ft by 4ft okay?

Yes. We recommed for two young boars 10 sq feet or more so they can get aware from each other, especially during the teenage months. 3x4 ft is 12 square feet. They can be house right next to your other boars.
