I have a 7 month old male guinea pig who needs a cage mate. Hes quite timid but loves company, what do you guys recommend?

Going to a rescue centre and asking them to find you a suitable cage mate is the best course of action.
Character compatibility is vital when finding a cage mate and letting your piggy choose his own is the best way to guarantee success. If you go out and buy (rescue is always the preferred option) another pig, then you have absolutely no way of knowing whether they are going be compatible, and therefore there is the risk of the bond failing and you then end up with two single pigs.
If you do decide to down this route though, it is vital that you follow the bonding procedure to give it the best chance.

Ensuring you have a big enough cage for two boars is essential.

Your alternative is having your boy neutered. Having the six weeks wait and then finding him a sow wife.

Could putting him with a 2 month old baby be a option?

It all comes down to character. You can only try and be prepared for whatever comes.
It does mean you will have two both in their hormonal teenage times which is when the trouble can occur. Teenage months lasting from 3 or 4 months of age until approx 14 months of age. I’m not saying it won’t work, both my two were teenagers at one point! But knowing what you are looking for is important
Read the guides on teenage boars and the other guides on the bonding section for more information.
