Hi so recently I had my boar Duncan neutered due to a failed bond. Now I’ve started the bonding process with my other two sows phoebe and bonnie So phoebe is making the submissive sound which I expected but bonnie and Duncan are rumble strutting teeth chattering and things, they eat near each other but I’ve one vets too close they’ll chase each other away. Is this normal? And how will I know when it’s save to put them in together? Also this is day two of bonding
Thanks x

Hi!

it sounds like your two top piggies are still working out the dominance.

As long as there is no escalation in tension or there tussles or real chases I would persist with giving them regular chunks of time together.
Call it a day if negative reactions harden and are instant, otherwise let them work it out. I find a pen, which I can divide overnight very helpful so the piggies can still interact and get used to each other for bondings that need more time.

It is too early to move them together. They sound like they are still contending for the leadership.

On thanks so much they’ve been out for ages today and they’ve definitely calmed down I’m gonna keep them together for another hour or so and put them back in their own cages I’m hoping they do bond x

If they have calmed down a lot, it looks like the leadership has been decided and they can now be moved to a shared cage. ;)

I'm gonna do one more day just to make sure but that’s just me being paranoid lol hopefully tommarow i can move them in I already have the cage cleaned and things so there’s no scent. thanks so much x
