Bonding my two remaining boars

I hope you're all well. I've not posted for a while, probably around last summer when I sadly lost Chicco and Bailey within a few days of each other.
For those who don't remember me, I had a trio and a pair, all boars. Groucho, Chicco and Little Dude were my trio, and Bailey and Bobby my pair.
Since losing Chicco and Bailey, Bobby has been in his own cage, right next to the remaining pair Groucho and Little Dude.
I'm sad to say that Groucho passed away suddenly a couple of days ago, so Little Dude and Bobby are my remaining two singles. Little Dude is about 4 1/2 and Bobby must be a really old man as I've had him 4 years and he seemed quite mature when I got him... I'm guessing he's about 8 or 9.
I decided to try to bond Bobby and Little Dude, so I've set up a run in the kitchen, bundle of hay and sprout peelings in the middle and popped them both in.
So far.... Nothing. No humping, only a tiny bit of rumbling and they both seem absolutely fine. I'm really surprised, as the Dude was the dominant of 3, and Bobby was the dominant in his pair. I'm guessing Bobby is no threat to Little Dude as he's such an elderly chap, or they've lived next door for so long that they think they're already cage mates.
I'll let you know if anything changes.
 
Fingers crossed that the bonding continues to go well. It's always very nerve-wracking, isn't it? It will be lovely for both of your boys - and you! - if they pal up. My Hamlet and Hercules are the most closely bonded piggies I've ever had. It's actually quite unusual for them to be in separate hides!
 
Aw, that’s great news, hope it works out for Little Dude and Bobby, two old gentlemen living out their twilight years together x

It's actually the first time I've bonded boars... Little Dude is currently snuggled up under Bobby's hair! I think that's a success. Lol
 
I know the feeling! It's strange only having girls having lost both the boys within 4 days of each other last November/December.
 
Yes Pretty Patsy. Meg was very ill last May and I thought I would lose her so I adopted Patsy as I didn't want Christian to be in his own and Meg pulled through with a lot of vet trips and hard work by me and then it was Christian that toddler off to the Rainbow Bridge right after Dennis who's body was just too weak to fight the horrendous URI he'd had for 9 weeks anymore.

So sorry for you too, it’s sad but life goes on, new era. I have ended up with two “couples” Posh and Ginger failed to bond with Hector, I think he was just too keen and excitable and Posh ended up fighting Ginger 🙄 So Debbie at TEAS managed to bond Hector with Kiki just a baby but they hit it off instantly and are very happy together. Ginger and Posh are fine together despite the falling out in the bonding pen 😀 So all’s good x
