Hi

Thank you for all the support that you gave me over my grief about Simba.
It’s been almost a week now and I’ve managed to find a 6 month old rescue boar. Simba’s companion who is left is 4 years old and was separated from Simba but they communicated through a divide.
My question is should I keep the 6 month old boar separate to Percy ( he has been with two brothers since birth) or should I attempt to bond? I am a bit confused and worry that Percy is used to his own space and that my new boar is used to cage mates.

Do I need to quarantine initially anyway?

Thank you in advance
X

I’m sorry for your loss

Yes I would definitely attempt to bond them - you have absolutely nothing to lose by trying but potentially everything to gain.

If he has come from a reputable rescue centre then he should have already been through quarantine prior to being available for adoption, so no need for you to quarantine any further.

I would have them side by side for a week or so. This will allow them to get to know each other between the bars and for the new boy to settle in a bit.
You can then attempt a neutral territory bonding once they are both settled
