Adopted my guinea pig Kookie a week ago. After learning that they need to be kept in pairs I went back & adopted one of his brothers, Sugar. (Both are males) I've kept them apart since I was waiting on my large cage to arrive as my current one was too small for both of them. They lived together in the shelter and haven't seen each other in a week, how do I reintroduce them? How long do they need to be in the bonding area before putting them into the new cage together? New cage is 11.4 square feet. I don't know their exact age but it's around 2 months.

Is this the same shelter that told you they had no more left when you had taken a lone one home? How strange that suddenly his brothers are available.

Please make sure you double check the sex of both of your piggies before introducing them and personally I would quarantine the new guy for a couple of weeks to be sure of his health as you don't want anything passing to your existing boar.

We have quite a number of useful guides on bonding for you to read through before you try and introduce them. It will be really helpful if you can recognise the good and bad signs of the bonding process so you know when/if you need to step in:
