Hi i was wondering if tis is good behaviour between sows. I am bonding Jessie the older sow with Petal a baby sow. For the beggining there was just sniffing of each other, then running around together making this bizzare pigioen sound, like a chirping you here pigeons doing and now there just walking about doing there own thing not paying much attention to each other ? Theres nothing like fighting or aggressive chasing, both pop corning around and occasionally together but most of the time ignorning each other. It may be cos i ahve put loads of stuff in for them hiding places, chubes with hay etc. I also put both there food bowls in so they wouldn't fight over one but they eat from each others and the other doesn't mind at all. Is this looking lke a good relationship or is ignorning each other a sign of bad? Sorry if it sounds a stupid question to you i've never bonded an animal before.

UPdate: They have been together in the run for just over 3 hours today and i spotted them just now sharing hay from the same tube sitting side by side, i'm thinking this is a good sign. Not to sure if it's to early to tell but i've left them there still :)

sounds wonderful news to me I have 14 sows in one hugh cc run and they get along perfectly ,

Sounds great then, i'm going to leave them in the run for a while still and give the cage a good cleaning anyway. There eating from the same bowl now but i had put 2 in there incase they fought but Jessie isn't being bossy right now :)

To be honest they dont really groom each other like bunnies do they tend to communicate more through noises my piggies ignore each other most of the time it doesnt mean they dont like each other ;)

i'd say your on a winner, they seem happy together, having trouble with my sows, wish mine woud ignore eacother instead of fighting.

Aww i hope you manage to bond your sows to. After cleaning the cage i rearranged all the stuff for a change and tried them in. No problems at all, there in the same room as me so i can keep an eye on them, everytime Petal gets a fright tough she runs behind Jessie and she doesn't mind. :) Mind you from behind Petal looks more like a little mouse than a piggie shes so small ;D

ahhh how sweet, she won't run and hide forever, she will get used to everything going on. she sounds soooo cute.

Yeah just needs time. Jessie hardly ever runs away now unless something really startles her but me getting up and walking diesn't faze her as much now :) I've never had a baby guinea pig before so compared to Jessies big butt shes soo small and skinny, like a little twig unlike Jessie whos more like a tree trunk behind ;D ;D

Congrats that the girls are getting along so well O0

Awww well done, they sound fine to me. I have found that many guineas who live together spend quite a time apart. :)
