Just got back from picking up a gorgeous little sow, she seemed to have made herself at home straight away but she wont let our original piggy in the bed, twice she has gone for her :o is there anything I can do to help like take the bed out or something and let them get to know each other first, or just leave them too it and hope our original piggy stands up for herself ? :-\ thanks :)

Hopefully its just a dominance thing they are just trying to work out who is the boss, I personally would have 2 little hidy places in there with hay etc. You could may be take the bed out or maybe give them some floor time together on neutral ground. finger's crossed for the little ladies

thanks, I have just put some hay in the corner of the cage and our original piggy munched on it at first and is now sitting on top of it so its looks like its her bed for a little while, think will leave it a while and take the bed out and let them try and make friends :)

normally if sows have a disagreement its settled quite quickly unlike with boars when it can last much longer.. whenever ive added a new sow to my girls i have 4 living together now i did have 5 but meeka now lives inside, they have never held a grudge for very long they are just curious as to who this newbie is, and the boss might challenge her a bit but after a few hours normally they have settled down in my experience anyway..

I found I had problems with mine Honkalula would drag Frogmella by her leg, then I put them in a new cage and took out all the hiding places but placed a small fleece pillow in just big enough for them to cuddle up on and it did take a week but then all has been fine since.
We will be trying to introduce pig-Pog soon but while we are not in the room Pig-Pog will be returned to her cage until we feel it is safe enough for her.
One of your piggies will be the boss and it is just the case of them finding out who it is.

The new piggy does seem very confident (6/7 weeks) and even though we have only had her for 1 day she took brocolli out of my fingers :smitten: we have had the original piggy (9 weeks) and she still legs it round the cage when I put my hand in, I dont think she was handled as much as I was led to believe but she does love a cuddle and squeeks and purrs when we brush her :smitten:

I think that they are almost friends, I came back from the school run and they were both in the bed together and when new piggy was having a drink original piggy was leaning over her and giving her a clean :smitten: it will probably take a week or so before they are best friends 8)

I've just bonded 2 sows this evening, after all of yesterday waiting for them to get over their chasing/nipping/rumbling thing! They're behaving like best friends now so fingers crossed for your two :)

they do seem like friends now, although the original piggy is a a big slow when it comes to the veg and the new piggy runs straight out of the bed and takes it from under her nose, she has to be quicker ;D
